Cake Submitted by Sarah M. from Mission, British Columbia.

While I would like to claim I made my airplane birthday cake from scratch... it would be a lie. I used a cake mix but to jazz it up, I add milk instead of water, butter instead of oil and vanilla pudding mix. Icing... again, store bought (2 large vanilla packs)!
I made two cakes in 9x13 pans. I had a template on how to cut the cake to create the airplane. I had to tinker with it but as you can see, the cake resembles an airplane. I should have used a rice crispy square for the tail because the cake wasn't strong enough to stay up and collapsed. I used blue, brown and red icing to decorate the cake.
I made the cake 'holder' from the side of a box, scrapbook paper for the "land and water" and white paper for the clouds.
