Ballerina Birthday Party Ideas

Ballerina birthday party is a great theme for "girls-only" celebration.

Make all your party guests feel special during this ballerina party event!

    Ballerina Birthday Party For your ballerina birthday invitations, you can put a picture of your daughter on the front of the invitation cards. Then you can decorate it with ballerinas and ballet theme accessories (such as tutus, arm bands, etc).

    The wording of your ballerina party invitations can say "Come dance and twirl with the birthday girl, it will be tutu much fun! Curtain call: (date, time, place). Include other ballerina birthday party details and RSVP.

    You can also put a picture of Angelina Ballerina on the front of your invitation cards. Then you can write all the Angelina Ballerina party information on the inside of the cards.

    Ask your ballerina birthday party guests to come in dance attire. You might want to provide some accessories to the girls who don't take ballet classes.


    Decorations

    For your ballerina birthday decorations, be sure to have lots of pink. You can also use silver, white and purple colors.

    Decorate your front door with wreaths to match the theme. It's a nice welcome for your ballerina party guests, and it also signals the party location.

    Decorate your house or ballerina birthday party area with lots of streamers. You can rent a helium tank and blow up as many pink and white helium balloons as you like. This alone will make a "Grand" statement, I can promise you that!!

    Spread around any Angelina Ballerina books that you might have. Hang ballet-related posters on the wall.

    Place a mirror in your party area so young ballerinas can use it before their performances. Decorate the mirror with glitter and stars.

    Put a ballet theme table cover on your ballerina party table. (A nice pink tablecloth will also do the job!) Spread confetti on the table. Tie Mylar heart-shaped balloons to the chairs. Fill a small bowl with soft gemstone rings (available from a party store), and put the bowl in the middle for table centerpiece.


    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

    Greet all your ballerina birthday party guests, and give them tiaras. Provide the girls with tutus (those who don't have theirs) to go change into. You can play ballet music in the background (e.g. Nutcracker or Swan Lake).

    *Ballerina Coloring Pages: Put various ballet activity books on the floor. Distribute pencils, crayons, and colorful markers. have the girls color ballerina coloring pages.

    *Wreath Craft Activity: If your party guests are about 6 years of age and above, this quality activity will be a hit! You can buy Garland Wreath Kit from a party store, and at party time let your guests make decorative dance accessories.

    *Fancy Dress-Up: Here is an opportunity for the girls to do last minute check in front of the ballet mirror (see decorations). Help them do their hair and provide them with any accessories that you might have: rings, necklaces, or ballet arm bands.


    Favors

    You ballerina party favors can include such items as bracelets, necklaces, tiaras, rings, ballet stickers, lip glosses, Angelina Ballerina books and ballet tutus.


    Ballerina Birthday Party Games

    *Dance Presentation: Invite a local ballet teacher or a family friend to teach your group basic ballet moves. Tell her how old the guests are before the party. She can come up with various ballet moves and activities to entertain you ballerina birthday party guests.

    The moves don't have to be hard - they have to be fun. Take basic steps so the girls can learn to leap, pirouette and perform a "final bow!"

    *Magic Star Relay: Cut out four large stars from golden-colored cardboard.

    Divide guests into two equal lines and give the first person in each line two stars.

    The stars become the only thing they can step on as they travel from the front of the line, around chair, and back to the line again.

    On the command "Go!" girls place one star on the ground and step on it. Then they place another star on the ground and step on it.

    Next, they pick up the first star and place it on the ground in front of the other. When ballerinas finish they relay leg, they hand the two stars to the next player in line. The team to cross the line first - wins!

    *Pin the Tutu on Ballerina: Pin the Tail game at ballerina birthday party becomes Pin the Tutu on Ballerina. Make or purchase a poster of ballerina. Cut out tutus out of colorful construction paper. Blindfold the girls and get them to stick tutus on the ballerina where they belong.

    *Grand Performance: Put Swan Lake, Nutcracker, or other ballet music in the background. Let the birthday girl to be the leader dancing to the music, while other players copy her moves. Continue with this activity until every one had a chance of being a leader, or they are too tired to continue.

    *Jewelry Box Decoration Activity: You can get a Jewelry Box Craft Kit from a party store. Let your ballerina birthday party guests decorate their boxes with stickers, glitter, and jewels.

    *Balloon Dance: Attach inflated balloons on long strings to girls' ankles, wrists and waists. Turn the music on and let the children dance. They must protect their balloons while trying to pop balloons on the other dancers.

    *Pass the Slipper: You can play this ballerina party version of "Hot Potato" game. Girls pass ballet slipper around. A chosen player with her eyes closed randomly says "Angelina Ballerina". Whoever holds the slipper when that happens - is out of the game. The play continues in this manner until there is only player left.

    *Final Bow: At the end of the ballerina birthday party, put on a video of a well known ballet (or Angelina Ballerina show) for your guests to watch. This is a great chance for them to unwind after the party.


    Food and Drink

    Ballerina Birthday Cakes:

    *Ballerina Cake: You can bake a simple sheet cake and frost it with pink icing. Then you can decorate the cake with ballerina cake toppers (available from party stores).

    Ballerina Birthday Party Food Ideas:

    *Classic Pinwheels: Cut away the crust from slices of white or wheat bread. Spread sandwich filling over each side. Roll up the bread tightly. Cut each slice into fourths and secure with a toothpick. Cover and keep chilled until serving time.

    For your sandwich filling, you can choose one from the following four combinations: 1) peanut butter and jam; 2) cream cheese spread and sunflower seeds; 3) minced cooked chicken, chopped celery and mayo; 4) canned tuna, relish, and mayo.

    *Bagel Pizzas: Cut bagels in half and spread with pizza sauce. Give the girls an opportunity to decorate their bagel slices with various bagel toppings such as pepperoni, grated mozzarella cheese, sliced olives, tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, etc. Bake the bagel pizzas at 375 degrees for 5-10 minutes, or until cheese melts.

    *Elegant Fruit Platter: Cut various fruit and cheese. Have grapes, apples, pineapple, water melon, cantaloupe, etc. Poke fancy toothpicks in fruit pieces to make them look elegant.

    *Shrunken Sandwiches: Cut cheese and ham into very small rounds (use a clean bottle cap as a cutter to make it easy). Put ham rounds on the crackers, then the cheese. Next, cover with another cracker.

    *Pink Mac & Cheese: Prepare regular macaroni and cheese. Add red or pink food coloring for pinkish color.

    *Butterfly Treats: Cut celery into small pieces. Fill them with peanut butter, cream cheese or other spread. Put a pretzel on each side of the celery to form wings. Use broken pretzel pieces for antennae and raisins for eyes.

    *Ballet Jigglers: Prepare your child's favorite Jell-O gelatin flavor according to package directions. Use cookie cutter to cut gelatin in various shapes: slippers, tutus, stars, music notes, etc. Next, put them on the platter so the kids can pick and choose out of shapes they like the most.

    Ballerina Birthday Party Drink Ideas:

    *Cherry Soda Blast: Mix raspberry sherbet into the cherry flavored soda for a pink drink. Garnish with cherries.

    *Pink Lemonade: Prepare pink lemonade mix according to directions. Serve in pretty punch glasses. Garnish each drink with a cherry or strawberry on the rim of the glass.

    For extra fun, use cherry or strawberry ice cubes: Fill ice cube tray with water, and let sit for about 20 minutes. Place a small cherry or strawberry into each cube, and then freeze.
