Camp Rock Party Ideas

If your child loves to sing and dance, then throwing a Camp Rock party is a great choice.

Use this page as a guide to create your invitations, plan party activities, prepare theme food, and so on. And your guests will talk about the party for some time. I guarantee it!

Resources:

  • Camp Rock Birthday Party Supplies
  • Free Printable Invitations

  • Invitations

For Camp Rock party invitations, download and print pictures of characters from the movie. Then take white invitation cards, and glue the images on the front. Write party details, and decorate the cards with theme stickers (microphones, guitars, silver stars, etc.)

As a variation, you can take a photo of the birthday child wearing pop star costume, holding a microphone, and pretending to sing. Then use that picture for your invitations. Put the invites in envelopes along with star shaped confetti.

Remember to send the invitations about 3 weeks in advance.

    Decorations

Purple and blue are the best colors for Camp Rock party decorations. Blow up balloons and use paper streamers in those colors around the house. Play Camp Rock theme music.

Camp Rock Put up movie posters on the walls. Spread out toy microphones, guitars, and other theme related items. Hang clear CDs from the ceiling on fishing lines.

Here is how you can design a "stage." Make a backdrop on the wall using white butcher paper. Draw Camp Rock logo on it. (You can also use old white sheets or curtains for the backdrop). Outline the edges with streamers and Christmas type lights.

Create signs that say "You Rock", "We love (birthday child's name)", and so on. Mount them up on the wall near the stage.

Cover the party table with blue or purple cover. Sprinkle silver confetti all around the table. Print and laminate pictures of Camp Rock characters. Use them for placemats at each setting.

    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

*Makeup Station: Designate an area where an adult can help the girls turn into pop stars. She can aid the girls putting on make up, nail polish, etc.

*Star T-Shirts: Invite the boys in attendance to decorate their star T-shirts. For this activity you'll need white T-shirts, self-adhesive shelf paper, fabric paint, paper plates, and small sponges.

Cut shelf paper into 6- or 7" squares -- one to three cutouts per guest. Draw or trace star shapes on the paper pieces. Use sharp scissors to cut star shapes from the squares, creating stencils.

Lay the T-shirts flat and insert a thick layer of newspaper inside each. Peel the backs from the shelf-paper stencils and place the stencils on each shirt. Pour fabric paint on paper plates. Dampen and wring out sponges. Dip a sponge in fabric paint and blot the cutout star.

Remove the stencils carefully when the paint has set (about 15 minutes). Allow paint to dry thoroughly before wearing T-shirts.

*Camp Rock Show: Invite all the guests to watch an episode from the movie. This is a perfect activity to get the kids into the mood before the party.

    Favors

Fill your Camp Rock party favor bags with toy microphones, glitter bracelets, cool pens, disco ball keychains, theme blowouts and sticker sheets, and so forth.

    Camp Rock Party Games

*Hot Microphone: Play a theme version of Hot Potato game. The guests pass a toy microphone around the circle when the music is on. When you stop the music, the person holding the mic goes out of the game and receives a prize.

*Name That Tune: Give the children index cards and pens. Play hit songs, and have the kids guess the name of the song along with the artist singing it. Award 1 point for each correct answer. The person who has the most points at the end of the game -- wins.

*Music Studio: Invite the kids to create their own music. Provide them with tambourines, drum sticks, empty cans, plastic bottles, harmonicas, and so on. Allow the kids to come up with their own cool beats and melodies.

If you have musically gifted party attendees, then invite them to create their own music using real musical instruments.

*Microphone Relay: Split the kids into two teams, and organize a relay race. Have the kids use toy microphones as relay batons that they need to pass to the next players on their teams.

*Follow the Leader: Play upbeat party music. Choose one person to lead the group coming up with different dance moves, as the rest of gang follows him or her.

Have the birthday child lead the game first, then switch leaders every 30 seconds or so.

*Show Time: Before the party, secretly find from guests' parents their favorite pop songs or artists. Have song audio recordings available with lyrics printed up. Create a list of songs on hand.

Invite the guests to choose a tune that they like to sing in front of the audience. Give them about 10-15 minutes to rehearse the songs. Then have them perform live. For those kids who don't feel comfortable singing, put on a song and invite them to lip-synch to it. Be sure to take pictures during the show!

*Balloon Stomp: Blow up a balloon for each child. Have children tie the balloons to their left ankles, leaving about 1 foot of string between the ankle and balloon.

When you say "Go", the players must attempt to pop each others' balloons -- without getting their own balloons popped! The last person with an intact balloon, wins.

*Who Said It?: Write a few lines from the movie on a sheet of paper. Gather the guests around, read the lines out loud, and have the children guess which character said which line.

*Guitar Hero Time: At the end of the party, give the kids some time to play Guitar Hero video game.

    Food and Drink

    Camp Rock Birthday Party Cake:

*Camp Rock Cake: Bake a rectangular cake. Download an image of Camp Rock logo. Outline the image on the cake, and then frost the cake in appropriate colors.

    Camp Rock Party Food Ideas:

*Star Pizzas: You'll need 5 slices of mozzarella or cheddar cheese (about 5 oz), 10-oz package of refrigerated pizza dough, 8 oz pizza sauce, 2 oz sliced pepperoni, and 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese.

Use cookie cutter to cut cheese into stars. Use a pizza cutter to cut dough into 8 rectangles (about 4x3 inches). Put rectangles on the baking sheet. Use a spoon to spread some of the pizza sauce (about 2 tsp) onto each rectangle. Top with pepperoni.

Bake about 10 minutes at 400°F. Remove baking sheet from the oven. Top each pizza with a few cheese stars. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Return baking sheet to the oven, and bake 2-3 minutes more (or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown).

Remove baking sheet from the oven. Let it stand on a wire cooling rack for 5 minutes before serving.

*Fruit Taco Time: You'll need hard taco shells, fresh fruit (peaches, strawberries, bananas, etc.), 2-3 tbsp orange juice, several small yogurts (in different fruit flavors) and 1 cup sliced almonds.

Heat taco shells in the oven until warm. Cut fruit and place in separate bowls (bananas in one bowl, peaches in another, etc.). Add a little orange juice in each bowl and mix well. Invite the guests to fill their tacos with fresh fruit and yogurt, then top with almonds.

*Camp Rock Snacks: Mix up different ingredients together -- cereal, nuts, pretzels, dried fruit, etc. (or buy prepaid mixes, e.g. trail mix). This creates a snack that 'pop stars' can grab between the games.

*Fruit & Cheese Tray: Cut veggies and cheese into small slices and squares respectively. Skewer the food onto fancy wooden toothpicks.

    *S'mores
    *Musical Note Sugar Cookies
    *Hotdogs
    *Popcorn
    *Ice Cream

    Camp Rock Party Drink Ideas:

    *Root Beer
    *Ginger Ale
    *Lemonade
