Care Bears Birthday Party Ideas

If you have decided to throw Care Bears birthday party, you made a great choice!

Invite the kids to attend a "beary" special celebration, and ask them to bring their teddy bears!

Resources:

  • Party Supplies
  • Free Printable Invitations

  • Invitations

You can get your Care Bear party invitations from a party supplies store. On the other hand, if you want to make the invitations yourself, then you have several options.

Care Bears First, you can print images of several Care Bears on the front of the invitation cards. Next, write your Care Bears birthday party details on the inside, and fill the empty space with theme stickers.

Second, you can print a picture of the birthday child (holding Care Bear toy in his or her hands) on the invitation cards. On the front of the cards, write "A Beary special party to celebrate (your child's name) __th Birthday!"

Lastly, you can attach the invitation cards to candy necklaces or Care Bears gummy candies, and mail to guests. It will be a great surprise for the kids to receive little gifts through the mail.

    Decorations

Whatever you decide to do with your Care Bear party decorations, make sure that the amount of decorative items is not too intimidating for the kids.

Best colors for Care Bears birthday party decorations are blue, purple, yellow and pink. Use balloons and streamers in those colors. Play kids' party music CD in the background.

Print and enlarge images of Care Bears, along with pictures of rainbows and hearts. Laminate them (if you can) and tape them to the fence. Hang several bunches of balloons near the entrance to the yard to mark your party spot. Post a sign that says "Welcome to (your child's name) Care Bears birthday party!" near the front door.

Spread out several Care Bears plush toys around the room. Tape pictures of rainbows, suns, clouds, hearts, etc. to the wall. Fill the ceiling with a few clear helium balloons (for clouds).

Cover your party table with a theme cloth. Print and laminate small images of Care Bears, and put them for placemats. Tie balloons to the back of the chairs. (Use Care Bear Mylar balloon for birthday child's chair.) Hang a personalized Rainbow & Stars "Happy Birthday" banner nearby.

    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

*Face Painting: Make your Care Bears birthday party guests feel special with a bit of face paint! As kids arrive to your party, decorate their cheeks with theme symbols: rainbows, hearts, suns, moons, shamrocks, clouds and so on.

*Coloring Pages: Provide the kids with crayons and markers, and have them color Care Bear activity book pages while waiting for others to arrive.

    Favors

For Care Bear party favors, hand out such items as heart-shaped buckets, small heart-shaped sunglasses, coloring pages, candy necklaces, crayons, Care Bears activity books, blowouts and stickers.

    Care Bears Birthday Party Games

*Pin the Heart on the Care Bear: Before the party, draw a picture of Tenderheart Bear on a poster board and let the birthday child color it. Next, cut out a heart from red construction paper for every child. On the day of the party, add a piece of tape to the back of each heart and write child's name on it as well.

At game time, mount the poster on the wall. Have the kids stick their hearts on the Care Bear where they belong. (Invite the kids to put the blindfold on while sticking, but don't force it.)

*Musical Care Bears: Seat the kids in the circle, and put on some music. Guests pass plush Care Bear while music plays. When you stop the music, player holding the bear wins a treat.

If the same person wins more than twice, ask the player to give the treat to someone without a prize. (Alert guests about this idea before the game begins.) Continue until everyone has one or two treats.

*Unbearable Knots: Have the kids stand in a circle facing one another. Everyone extends his or her right hand into the ring and takes a hold of someone else's hand. Next, they do the same with their left hands.

The object of the game is to see if they can untangle the "knot" by stepping over, ducking under, and turning around - without letting go of anyone's hand!

*Find the Birthday Bear: Before the Care Bears birthday party, hide a theme-related toy somewhere in your house. Draw and cut out lots of cloud shapes from construction paper. Then use double-sided tape to attach Care Bear stickers onto clouds. Place clouds on the floor leading to the Care Bear toy.

At game time, have the kids follow the clouds to find the hidden bear collecting stickers as prizes.

*Care Bear Bibs: Buy inexpensive white bibs for guests and their bears. Use brown felt-tip pens to draw teddy bears on guests' bibs. Let guests draw their own teddy bears on the bears' bibs. Encourage everyone (guests and bears) to wear their bibs.

*Do the Bear Crawl: Set up an obstacle course with objects to crawl over, through, around, underneath, and so on. Have your guests follow the obstacle course on all fours, pretending they are bears.

*Lim-Bo-Bear: Put on some music and let everybody to do the limbo with a bear! Have 2 adults holding a limbo stick (high enough for young kids). Kids take turns bending over backward and going under the stick, while holding the bear on their chest.

If they (or the bear) bump the limbo stick or touch the ground with anything but their feet, they step out of the game and cheer on the sidelines. Lower the stick every round, and keep playing until there is only one person left.

*Story Time: Select a picture book and sit everyone together to hear the tale. Toddlers may not understand all the words, but they'll enjoy looking at the pictures.

    Food and Drink

    Care Bear Birthday Cakes:

*Rainbow Cake: You'll need 1 packaged cake mix, one 15-oz container of ready-made frosting, one 12" diameter round cake pan, one 8-oz container of Cool Whip®, and edible glitter.

Start out by making pink, pastel yellow and lavender gel: tint half the container of frosting pink, then divide the remaining frosting, and tint half of it yellow and the other half lavender.

Bake a round cake according to package directions. Cool and cut it in half so that you have 2 semi-circles. Place one layer on top of the other on the cake board. After spreading the bottom layer with jam, frost the top of the cake in a rainbow pattern.

Gently tip the cake so that the cut (flat) edge is placed on the cake board. Then frost the rounded edge of the cake with the remaining pink frosting. Sprinkle the edible glitter on the top edge of the cake. Add a Cool Whip cloud to the base of the rainbow.

*Care Bear Cake: Bake a rectangle or round cake. Frost it with theme-colored icing. Top the cake with Care Bare cake toppers (available from party store).

Care Bears Birthday Party Food Ideas:

*Caring Cupcakes: Bake 2 dozen cupcakes according to package directions. When they are cool, remove the liners. Make 6 cups of white frosting and divide it into 6 equal portions. Use food coloring to tint each portion a different color to represent a different Care Bear.

To assemble a cupcake bear, frost the top of a cupcake. On the top of it, place an unfrosted cupcake upside-down, securing it with a toothpick. Frost both cupcakes with the same color you used to hold the two cupcakes together. (Frost both cupcakes completely.)

Break small, round cookies (vanilla wafers, Oreos®, etc.) into halves and press them into the top cupcake (bear's head) to make ears. Use additional halves to make arms if you wish. Frost ears and arms to match the rest of Care Bear. Use chocolate chips, M&Ms, or other small candies of your choice to make eyes, a nose and a mouth. Use additional candies to make rainbows, hearts, etc. on the bears' tummies.

*Haystacks: For this Care Bears birthday party recipe, you'll need a bag of corn chips, shredded cheddar cheese, canned chili, shredded lettuce, sliced olives, diced tomatoes, salsa and sour cream.

To make a haystack, crush a handful of corn chips on a plate. Spoon a layer of warmed chili over the chips and add cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and olives. Top with sour cream! Dig in and enjoy!

*Rainbow Fruit Parfait: Start with layering the following ingredients in a parfait cup: yogurt (any flavor), granola, fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and pineapple work well). Add a dollop of whipped topping and serve with a long handled spoon.

*Biscuit Bears: For this Care Bears birthday party recipe, you'll need 4 packages of refrigerated biscuits, raisins, poppy seeds (or sesame seeds), and vegetable spray.

Divide each package of biscuits in half, and knead each portion. (You'll have 8 equal portions of dough.) Separate each portion into the following parts: 1 small ball for head, 1 large ball for body, 7 smaller balls for ears, nose, hands and feet.

Spray a baking sheet with vegetable spray (or cover with foil) and set each "body" on it. Place a head above each body, and add ears, hands, feet and nose. Poke raisins in the center of the ears and the nose. Make eyes and belly button. Sprinkle bodies with poppy or sesame seeds to create "fur," if desired.

Bake according to package directions until golden brown. Set aside to cool.

    *Mini Pizzas
    *Fruit Kabobs
    *Honey Flavored Candies
    *Ice Cream

Care Bears Birthday Party Drink Ideas:

*Rainbow Punch: Freeze several Kool-Aid® flavors (lemon, lime, orange, berry, grape, etc.) in ice cube trays. (Fill trays half-full so more cubes will fit into each glass later.)

At serving time, place ice cubes in a large bowl and let the kids fill their cups with their choice of colors. Pour lightly-colored soda into each glass.

    *Grape Juice
    *Lemonade
