Invitations
Here are some child party ideas for creating special invitations for your guests.
You can make your invitations out of construction paper in animal shapes. First, fold the paper in half. Then use an animal-shaped template to draw the animal, keeping the template near the fold. Color with felt-tip pens. Next, decorate the cards with stickers and drawings. Include party specifics on the inside.
For a different idea, take a picture of your child wearing an animal costume. Paste that picture on the front of the invitation cards. Make a speech bubble with a dark felt-tip pen, and write "Come to Animal Adventure Party!" inside. Provide the rest of the party details and mail the invitations to your guests.
You can ask children to bring their favorite plush animal toys to the party.
Decorations
Decorate the fence with pictures of jungle animals. Create a banner that says "Careful! Wild Animals!" and hang it near in the area. Cut out animal footprints and tape them to your walkway leading to the front door. Tie balloons to a mailbox.
Make "Do Not Feed the Animals" sign, but cross "Not" with a red marker. Then hang it near the party table. Cover the table with khaki or green table cover. Place a large stuffed animal in the middle for a centerpiece. Decorate the party room with streamers. Hang posters of baby animals on the walls at children's eye level.
Favors Give out such favors as jungle coloring books, tiny binoculars, small plush toys, plastic animals, animal stickers, and so on. I love child party ideas that include photos as birthday favors. You can take pictures of your guests with the birthday child. Later, send those pictures with thank-you notes.
Animal Adventure Party Games *Animal Transformations: As each little guest arrives to the party, transform him or her into an animal with face paint. Kids will be delighted with a chance to act out their favorite animals during the event.
*Animal Tracking: Before the party, hide plastic animals around the house. When everyone arrives, get them to find the animals. To help the little party-goers out, you can provide clues by placing pictures of animals on the floor leading to the hiding spot. Kids can keep the found animals as souvenirs to take home. (Make sure everyone gets the same number of toys.) *What Animal am I?: Invite the kids to sit in a circle. Have an adult act out an animal making sounds and gestures. Have the children guess what animal it is. As an alternative, you can play audio records containing animal sounds. *Best Monkey Contest: Let the kids perform their best monkey impersonations. Have prizes for the silliest, most real, loudest, etc. monkey call. Be sure that every child receives a prize for their special "monkey-acting gift." *Lion Says: Play a theme version of "Simon Says" game. Have an adult lead the game with the little participants following every move. *Home Zoo: If you can, hire an animal trainer to attend the event with a live animal (a goat, pony, or an exotic bird). The trainer can tell the kids about the creature, as well as let them pet the animal.
Food and Drink Animal Party Cake: *Lion Cake: Bake one round cake and two cupcakes. Arrange the cakes so the large cake makes the "face" and cupcakes -- the "ears" of the lion. Next, frost the cake with yellow icing. Use a tube of chocolate decorator icing to draw eyes, mouth, nose, whiskers, and other facial features. Place plastic animals around the cake bottom.Animal Adventure Party Food & Drink Ideas: *Lion Pizza *Pigs in blankets (hot dogs) *Unshelled Peanuts (check with parents about allergies) *Animal Crackers *Gummy Worms *Monkey Bites (banana pieces) *Chimp Chips (potato chips) *Cheetah Cheese (cheese cubes)
