Cake Submitted by Katie V. from Richmond, British Columbia.

I made 2 chocolate cakes (box cake mix) to the directions on the box and made one into a 13x9 inch pan. Then I made chocolate cupcakes and one square 9x9 cake with the 2nd box. I cut the 13x9 cake in half diagonally to make the back of the truck and used the other piece to make a rectangle for the base where the wheels would attach. The square got made into the front of the truck and also the road work construction sign.
I made the wheels out of 2 of the cupcakes. I then used classic and chocolate buttercream icing to decorate the dump truck birthday cake. I iced the cake yellow. Next I used orange icing for the construction sign and the lines on the truck (reserving some white to do the letters with a piping bag). I used the chocolate buttercream to fill in the windows and ice the wheels before doing the top centers of the wheels yellow with an orange rosette. I also put orange rosettes for the head lights and top lights of the truck! Finally, I used a fork to make the grill.
