How to Make Paper Lanterns

Looking for easy lantern craft instructions? This page provides simple explanation how to make paper lanterns at kids' parties. Organize your workspace and have fun!

Materials Needed:

  • 81/2- by 11-inch pieces and 1/2- by 6-inch strips of lightweight paper
    (such as gift wrap or decorated newsprint)
  • Child Safety Scissors
  • Stapler

    Fold larger piece of paper in half lengthwise. Cut slits (3 1/2 inches long) 1" (2.5cm) apart along the fold and stopping 1" below the edge of the paper.

    Open the paper and staple together vertically for a lantern. Staple a strip of paper across the top of the lantern for a handle.
