Incredibles Birthday Party Ideas

If your child is into Superheroes, then throwing Incredibles birthday party sounds like an excellent idea!

Invite your party guests to have a great time being a part of Supers family!

Resources:

  • Invitations

Be creative with your Incredibles party invitations. Before the event, you can call guests' parents and ask them about their children's height, weight, distinguishing features, brief personal history, etc. Then write up a dossier on each kid, with "Top Secret" watermarked on the paper. Next, paper-clip the dossier, a headshot of the guest, and a cover letter into a manila folder marked "Top Secret" on the outside.

The Incredibles The cover letter can state: "We're here at the Incredibles Crime Fighting Superhero League have noticed you and your special skills. Those skills are necessary and vital to crime fighters. Do you think you have what it takes to be a Superhero? (Birthday child's name) seems to think so."

"He (she) has invited your to his (her) Incredibles Birthday Party! Training begins at (time - use 4 digits, for example 1400 for 2 o'clock) hours on the __th of (month). Please come in your Superhero uniform and be prepared to work hard. We hope you decide to be a part of our team."

As a variation, print an image of characters from the Incredibles movie on the front of blank invitation cards. Write your party details, and decorate the cards with theme stickers.

Alternative wording for your invitations can say "Calling all Superheroes! Someone has stolen (your child's name) __th birthday cake, and he (she) needs your help finding it." Then include time, date, address for the event. Finish your Incredibles birthday party invitation wording with "Wear your Superhero costume or come and create one!"

    Decorations

Red, blue, green and yellow are best colors for your Incredibles birthday party decorations. Use a lot of crepe paper streamers and balloons in those colors. Play the Incredibles theme music in the background.

Download and print images of Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone and other characters. Enlarge images and tape them to your fence to mark your party spot. Draw some theme emblems and post them as well. Hang a sign that says "Entering Restricted Area! Please proceed to fingerprint recognition and retinal scanning."

Decorate your driveway with footprints leading all the way to the front door. (You can either draw with black chalk or use construction paper cutouts.) For added fun, draw magnifying glasses over some footprints. (Enlarge the part of the footprint underneath the magnifier.)

Inside the house, you can put a sign that says "Welcome Superheroes." Create a board with pictures of the Incredibles birthday party guests. (You can get pictures from guests' parents before the party - ask them not to tell the kids.) Come up with "hero names", for example, Lightning Jane, Mr. Unbelievable, etc., and write those names underneath guests' pictures.

Hang Incredibles theme posters on the walls. Draw and cut out "super signs" ("POW!", "KABLAM!", "BAM!", etc.) out of yellow construction paper, and tape them around. Scatter different theme toys, figurines, and memorabilia around the Incredibles party room.

Cover your Incredibles birthday party table with a theme cloth. Put Incredibles Mylar balloon for a centerpiece. Make a huge banner that uses Mr. Incredible's quote from the movie: "Hey, I just cleaned this mess up! Can we please keep it clean for ten minutes!" Post it near the table for a fun effect!

    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

*Super Hero Welcome: As the kids arrive to your Incredibles birthday party, give them Superhero manuals (an overview of the planned party events) and black theme masks. Kids will love taking those items home as great reminders of the party. (Hint: Make Superhero manuals as interesting as possible: include pictures of the birthday child, party room, decorations, the Incredibles characters and descriptions. You can provide some party food recipes that you used, etc.)

*Coloring Pages: Spread out activity books around your party area. Have the kids color the pages with crayons and markers while they are waiting for other guests to arrive.

*Incredible T-Shirts: Try this craft activity yourself before the Incredibles birthday party, so you can teach the kids how to do it. You will need white T-shirts, self-adhesive shelf paper, fabric paint, paper plates, small sponges. Cut shelf paper into 6- or 7" squares - one to three cutouts per guest. Draw or trace The Incredibles emblems on the paper pieces. Use sharp scissors to cut emblem shapes from the squares, creating stencils.

Lay the t-shirts flat and insert a thick layer of newspaper inside each. Peel the backs from the shelf-paper stencils and place the stencils on each shirt. Pour fabric paint on paper plates. Dampen and wring out sponges. Dip a sponge in fabric paint and blot the cutout emblem. Remove the stencils carefully when the paint has set (about 15 minutes). Allow paint to dry thoroughly before wearing t-shirts.

    Favors

For the Incredibles party favors, give out such items as Super Hero masks, Incredibles sticker sheets, blowouts, bubbles, crayons, glow necklaces, Pop Rocks® candy and note pads.

    The Incredibles Birthday Party Games

*Pin the Mask on Mr. Incredible: For this Incredibles birthday party variation of a popular game, you'll need a poster of Mr. Incredible (you can make it yourself or purchase one) and masks cut out from black construction paper (enough for all the guests).

At game time, blindfold the kids one by one, spin them around and get them to "pin" their masks on Mr. Incredible where they belong. As a variation, instead of masks you can use "I" (Incredibles emblem).

*Incredible Who?: Print pictures of several characters from the movie. (Or, write names of Incredibles characters on masking tape.) At activity time, tape images of characters on children's backs without them looking. Get them to mingle and ask questions that can be answered "yes" or "no" to find their identity.

*Incredible Obstacle Course: Set an obstacle course in your yard, and have the kids test their super-skills racing through the course, one by one. Have a stopwatch handy to determine the fastest Superhero. As a variation, you can have a fun relay race where two teams compete between one another.

*Secret Identity: When regular people started suing the Supers for saving their lives, families like The Incredibles had to go "underground." In this Incredibles birthday party game, kids take on secret identities.

Before the Incredibles party, fill a large bag or two with clothing, accessories and costume items. (The more outrageous the items are, the better!) At game time, invite the kids to stand in a circle. Turn on some upbeat music and have the players pass the bag(s) around. When you stop the music, the person holding the bag must reach in, pull out an item (without looking) and put it on. Play continues until all items are gone. Take pictures of your "Supers-in-hiding."

*Syndrome's Search: Mr. Incredible's nemesis, Syndrome, is seeking out all Supers to destroy them. So the Supers try not to be discovered.

Enlist one of the kids to be Syndrome and blindfold him. Next, have everyone walking in a circle around Syndrome until he points in someone's direction and shouts, "Mr. Incredible, reveal yourself!" The person who has been pointed at must respond, in an undetectable voice, "I'm not Mr. Incredible!" Syndrome has three guesses to determine who that player really is.

*Bowling Dash: This is a great Incredibles birthday party game, because when Bob (Mr. Incredible) and Lucius (Frozone) secretly want to use their Super powers, they say they're going bowling. To play, you'll need up to 24 plastic bottles (with caps), sand, white paint, black marker, sticks or masking tape, and two balls (soccer or basketball).

Fill the bottles with sand and close tightly. Paint the bottles white and use a marker to draw a stripe around top portion of the bottles. Find an area for two "bowling lanes", where the ground is relatively smooth. Next, outline areas with masking tape and sticks. Assemble bottles into two pyramid shapes at the end of the lanes.

Divide the guests into two teams. Players then have one try to knock down pins with a ball. Total the score before the next teammate goes. (Bonus of 20 points rewarded for knocking all the bottles down.)

Other teammates help set bottles back up for the next player. In the end, after totaling all scores, both teams win: 1st place - "The Incredible" Award, and the 2nd place "Dash" Award (since Dash always comes in second).

*Freeze!: Remember how Frozone was almost caught by the police, when they mistook him for a criminal? He tried to freeze them with his instant-ice, but couldn't because he was dehydrated. But with a drink of water, his Super power came back. In this game of tag, kids get to play Frozone, villains, and police.

To play this game, you'll need one slip of paper per player, pen and a bowl, small drinking cups and a pitcher of room-temperature water, and a masking tape to label each cup with player's name.

Before the Incredibles birthday party, set up an area for the water and cups. Next write "Frozone" on one slip of paper, then write "police" on half of the slips and "villain" on the rest. Fold and mix up slips in a bowl. Invite the kids to draw one to see what part they will play. (Be sure to collect slips for future rounds.)

When the game begins, Frozone tries to catch the villains and the police. The difference is, the police get to yell "dehydrated!" the first time they're caught. They go free, and Frozone has to go take a drink of water before catching anyone else. (You'll need a helper to be the water pourer, keeping cups ready at all times.)

When the police are caught the second time, they must freeze and not move until the end of the round. The round's done once everyone's been caught, or at the end of the prearranged time limit. (For very young children, play the game with Frozone and villains only.)

*Best Villain Laugh: Have a contest to see who has the most wicked, scariest, evilest laugh of all villains. (Hint: it should sound something like eh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh! Or, moo-hoo-woo-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!)

*Follow Mr. Incredible: Pick one child to be Mr. Incredible. Next, put some fun music on, and get Mr. Incredible to make silly dance moves while the rest of group follows. Switch leaders every minute or so, and continue dancing until everyone has had a chance to lead.

*Incredible Birthday Cake Hunt: For this Incredibles birthday party activity, you'll need the help of at least a few family members, friends or neighbors.

Separate your party group into teams or pairs, and give each team a set of clues and party favors to find. Give each guest a bag to put the favors in, and make sure each guest has at least one favor (so nobody feels left out). The clues and favors should lead the kids to the location of the cake. Keep the cake under the adult supervision at all times.

The first team to locate the cake gets served first.

    Food and Drink

    Incredibles Birthday Cake:

*Incredibles Cake: Take an image of the Incredibles characters, scan it, blow it up and print it in black and white. Next, take a large needle and poke many holes in the outlines.

Bake a rectangular cake and frost it red for background color. Let the cake stand for awhile for the frosting to "settle." Next, put an "outline paper" on top of the cake, and gently rub cocoa powder into the holes. Finally, lift the paper up and fill in with the theme colors.

    Incredibles Birthday Party Food Ideas:

*Incredible Pizzas: For this Incredibles party recipe, you'll need pita bread, spaghetti sauce, cheese slices (cut to form "I" Shapes), various toppings (grated cheese, pineapple, pepperoni, etc.)

Ask the kids to decorate labels for topping containers with such signs as "Super-Strength Sauce," "Power-Enhancing Pepperoni" and "Elasti-Cheese." Label an empty container with a sign "Invisible Olives" in honor of Vi's Super Power. Preheat oven to 350°F, while kids pick their pita circle, spread it with sauce and load up the toppings. Finish off each pizza with a large "I" cut from cheese slices. Bake pizzas until cheese is gooey.

*Dash Wraps: You'll 8 whole wheat tortillas, natural peanut butter, 2 cups granola, 1 cup raisins and 2 chopped apples. Simply spread peanut butter on one side of tortillas, sprinkle on the other ingredients, roll up tightly and serve! For added fun, buy extra granola, apples and raisins, put them in separate bowls, and let children make their own.

*Omnidroid Clusters: For the following Incredibles birthday party recipe, you'll need 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/3 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 cup butter, 1 tsp vanilla, black food coloring, 10 cups popped corn, black string licorice and M&Ms®.

Combine corn syrup, water, sugar and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a strong boil. Remove from heat and whisk in butter and vanilla. Add a few drops of food coloring slowly to determine color.

Pour mixture over popcorn and toss until well coated. Spread on baking sheets. When cool enough to handle, form popcorn balls, draping 3 pieces of string licorice across the center to create 6 dangling strands. These will be the legs, but since Omniroids only have 5, cut off 1 strand after you're done. Push 1 M&M into top of ball to create the "eye." Carefully wrap balls in squares of cellophane and store in tightly closed container.

*Incredible Edible Play Clay: You'll need one 10-oz package of chocolate chips and 1/3 cup of light corn syrup.

Pour chips into a microwaveable bowl. Heat in microwave and stir chocolate at 30-second intervals until melted and smooth. Blend in corn syrup. Spread mixture on waxed paper so it's 1/2 inch thick. Cover with more waxed paper and let set for several hours. Slice into portions for the kids to play with and eat!

*Frozone Fruit Treats: For this Incredibles birthday party recipe, you'll need peeled and chopped bananas, lemon water (put 1 tbsp of lemon juice in 1 quart of water), berries of all kinds (fresh or frozen), caramel and/or chocolate sauce.

Dip bananas in lemon water and put in freezer bags. If berries are fresh, rinse them clean, and spread out on cookie sheets. Place all fruit in freezer overnight. (Once berries are frozen, you can store them in containers or plastic bags until the party.) Mix fruit together, serve in bowls, and drizzle with sauce(s).

    *Grilled Chicken
    *Superheroes Meatballs & Pasta
    *Power Bars®
    *Ice Cream

    Incredibles Birthday Party Drink Ideas:

*Super Sippers: Stir 6-oz of frozen orange juice concentrate and 2 cups of cherry juice together, and chill. Just before serving, slowly stir in carbonated water (33.8-oz bottle).

    *PowerAde®
