James Bond Birthday Party Ideas

Boys like playing spies and secret agents, and that's why picking James Bond party theme for your child's birthday is a great choice.

Have your guests go on a special secret mission. Use ideas from this page to help you throw a fantastic 007 party.

  • Invitations

There are a couple of ways that you can create your James Bond party invitations.

First, you can print a picture of 007 on the front of white invitation cards. Below, write "Attention: Secret Agent..." Then open the cards, and write "Dear agent ____ (guest's name), your mission should you choose to accept it, is to join British Secret Intelligence Service for a special secret assignment at (birthday child's name) James Bond Birthday Party!"

Then include the remainder of the party information. Finally, decorate the cards with theme stickers and stamps, and place them in envelopes for mailing.

Or, for a different idea, you can write "Top Secret" on manila envelopes. Take regular A4 sheets of paper, and write your party information on them backwards. The guests should use mirrors to read it. (Be sure to tell them this, otherwise they won't have a clue.) Then stick invitations in envelopes and mail.

You can ask the guests to wear spy outfits: trench coats, fedora hats, and so on.

    Decorations

Mark your party place by tying balloons and streamers in bunches near the entrance to the house. Post a sign that says : "Welcome to James Bond party!" Play 007 theme music.

Tape James Bond movie posters and SIS logo images on the wall. Spread out any items you can find related to the theme: toy guns, bow ties, camera, leather gloves, etc.

Put up a casino set in the area with playing cards, dice, chips, and so forth. If you don't have the items, try to borrow them, if you can.

Cover the party table with a black cloth. Put up a world map on the wall. Hang a sign that says "SIS Members Only."

    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

*Spy Disguises & Fingerprints: As the kids enter the front door, give them sunglasses, fake mustaches, etc. Use scrap-booking ink pads to take guests' fingerprints. Get them to leave prints on separate pieces of paper that later can become their placemats at the party table.

*Decorate a Name Tag: Pre-design a name tag for each child by cutting name tags and writing "Agent (guest's name)." Have the kids decorate the name tags while they're waiting for others to show up.

*Group Picture: After everyone has arrived, get the kids to put their disguises and take a group photo. Send pictures after the party with "thank you" notes.

    Favors

Fill James Bond party bags with such items as magnifying lenses, sunglasses, toy watches, movie posters, theme tattoos and sticker sheets.

    James Bond Party Games

*Avoid Laser Beams: Before the party, connect yarn strings to various furniture pieces and other fixtures (chairs, hinges, doorknobs) to create a "laser beam maze." (You can place tall objects in the middle of the room, for example tripods, to help connect the strings better.)

At game time, get the kids to go through the maze without touching any of the laser beams (i.e. yarn strings). It's a fun activity to test how suitable the kids are to be special agents.

*Bomb Handling: Play a classic Hot Potato game where the kids pretend they're passing a bomb.

*Touch-and-Tell: Wrap a number of small items and put them in a bag. (Number of items should equal the number of guests.)

Have the kids sit in a circle. Get them to pass the box around, put one hand in the bag, hold one of the items, and try to guess what it is without looking. The person who guesses correctly, keeps the item and goes out of the game.

    *Airplane

*Decipher: Divide the group into 2 teams. Give each team pen and paper, and have them write an encrypted message using a special code for the other team to decipher. Invite each team members to work together trying to break the coded message.

*Gun Training: For this game you'll need one or several toy guns with bullets and various targets (toy soldiers, plastic bottles, etc.)

Set the targets up, and have the children take turns shooting at them from a distance.

*Lie Detector: Here is a fun James Bond party card bluffing game.

Each player gets 7 playing cards, and the rest of the cards go to a drawing pile face down. (Use more than 1 card deck, if necessary.) The dealer lays one or several cards from his hand on the table face down, declaring card value (e.g., "Two eights").

The next player in the circle has to add card or cards of the next highest value (using example above, the cards must be nines.) If he doesn't have such cards, he must either pick a card from the pile or fake it adding a different card.

Any player can challenge by saying "Lie Detector," and when the truth is revealed, whoever is wrong, that person inherits the discarded pile. The player who gets rid of all of his cards the fastest, - wins.

*Mission Impossible: Hide birthday cake in the fridge. Tell the kids they must go on a special mission to find secret item (don't tell them they're looking for the cake, until the very final clue). Write several clues, so every clue leads to the next, until the kids find the cake.

Adjust the difficulty based on the age of the children. For younger kids, you can write such clues as "Cold on the inside and works all day and all night" (answer: refrigerator). And for older children the clues can be more challenging: "Rain or shine, they put items here every day except Sunday" (answer: mailbox), and so on.

    Food and Drink

    James Bond Birthday Cake:

*James Bond Cake: Download a picture of 007 logo off the internet. Bake a rectangular cake. Use the picture to outline the logo on the cake and frost each section of the cake in appropriate colors.

    James Bond Party Food Ideas:

*Mystery Soup: Buy cans of various soups. Mix them together in a large saucepan, heat, and serve.

*007 Sandwiches: Make regular PB&J sandwiches.

*James Bond Pizza: Serve pizza cutting pepperoni and cheese slices, so they look like numbers "0, 0, 7."

    *Veggies with Dip
    *Hot dogs
    *Pretzels
    *Ice Cream
    *Popcorn

    James Bond Party Drink Ideas:

Serve the drinks in plastic martini glasses or wine flutes.

*Secret Agent Punch: Scoop lime sherbet into balls, and then put in the freezer. Purchase and refrigerate pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda. At serving time, put sherbet pieces into a punch bowl, then add juice and soda.

    *Raspberry Lemonade
    *Root Beer "on the rocks"
