Kids' Party Planning Checklist
One Month Before the Party __*Pick your party theme. __*Decide on day, time, and location for the party. __*Write a guest list. (Keep the number manageable.)
Two to Three Weeks Before the Party __*Buy (or make) and send invitations. Include an RSVP. __*Make a list of decorations, food, and activity supplies. __*Make or buy party decorations (e.g. banners, streamers, etc). __*Buy and collect items needed for games and crafts. __*Buy colorful theme party table items (e.g. paper plates, cups, utensils, tablecloth, napkins). __*Buy food items that do not need to be refrigerated. __*Buy party favors (e.g. small toys, fun erasers, candies). __*Make props (e.g. booths, signs, items for games). __*Decide on an area for the games, crafts, and gifts. __*Check batteries and film in camera and video camera. __*Select background music (optional).
Week of the Party __*Call any guests who have not responded. __*Buy last-minute items. __*Borrow tables, chairs, and other needed items. __*Make cake or order one. __*Make food items that can be kept for several days without going spoiled. __*Order balloons. __*Prepare all games.
Day of the Party Four hours before __*Pick up cake (if ordered). __*Buy ice for cooler, if needed. __*Set up party tables. __*Set up decorations, games, and prizes. Two hours before __*Organize background music (optional). __*Complete last-minute food and drinks. One hour before __*Make sure your child is dressed for the party and ready to greet guests. __*Prepare items like popcorn, hotdogs, etc. As guests arrive __*Greet guests and make them feel welcome. __*Have paper and pen available to write down telephone numbers where parents can be reached if needed.
