Simple Rope Craft Ideas for Making a Horse

I have provided you with rope craft ideas to make horses with rope, wire and string. The wire lets them stand up and bend any way you want them to. Kids will have a great time making their own horses. They can take them home at the end of the party!

Materials Needed:

  • Rope 1/4" (1/2 cm) thick
  • String
  • Wire
  • Decorations (sequins, glitter, etc.)
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors

Rope Craft Twist wire into each piece of rope. Try to hide the wire inside the twists. It's easier if someone holds one end of the rope for you.

Make a loop and tie it tight with string. This is the horse's head. Tie the other two pieces of rope onto the body to make four legs.

Pull apart the fibers of the rope to make a fringe tale. Cut the wire out of the tail. Tie string tightly around the bottoms of the legs.

Glue short pieces of fringed rope to the neck to make a mane. If you want to, you can dress your rope horse with a ribbon halter and bright felt saddle blanket.
