Invitations
Make your Scooby Doo birthday invitations using 8"x11" green cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half. Print a picture of Scooby and 2 spooky ghosts on the front of the cards. Then print "Zoinks! (Your child's name) is turning (age)!"
On the inside of the cards write "Up in the woods that are dark and damp, there is a mystery to be solved at (your last name) Camp. We invite you to help us collect all the clues, so make sure you wear some athletic shoes. There we'll be running and laughing, and with Scooby's help we'll have a really rood rime." Then write the rest of your Scooby Doo birthday party details.
Put invitations in manila envelopes. Print "Top Secret" in red on one side of the envelopes, and on the other side write guest's name using letters cut out from magazines. Hand-deliver the invitations!
As a variation for Scooby Doo birthday invitations, cut out Mystery Machine (van) shapes from cardstock. Color and decorate them to the best of your ability. Then on the back side write "Jinkies - It's a Scooby Doo Birthday Party! You have been invited to (birthday child's name) Mystery party! Please come dressed as your favorite character from Scooby Doo. You'll be solving a mystery while you're here, playing many games and eating delicious food!"
Then include all the remaining Scooby Doo birthday party information.
Decorations
To start off with your Scooby Doo party decorations, enlarge images of Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma, and put them in front of your yard (or on the fence) to welcome your guests. Cut out dog's paw prints and person's foot prints out of brown construction paper. Place them on your driveway leading to the front door. Post a banner in your yard that says "Welcome to Scooby Doo Birthday Party!" Play Scooby Doo theme music in the background.
Hang balloons from mailboxes, patio, deck, etc. Attach theme posters to the trees and walls outside the house. Make signs of favorite Scooby sayings such as "Scooby Dooby Doo", "Rokay", etc. Tape those signs all over the party area. Create a large Mystery Machine van out of solid cardboard, decorate and place it in the yard!
Make inside of the house mysterious and spooky. Cut several vertical sections in black material (or paper), and then hang it in doorways (so people have to walk through them). Hang black paper streamers from the windows. Draw "spooky eyes" on construction paper with black marker, cut out and attach them to various fixtures around the room.
Make an outline of the birthday child: have her stand in profile in front of a large sheet of black poster paper mounted on the wall. Then shine light on her, and trace her outline with white pen or crayon. Cut the outline out and hang it in the party room. Spread as many Scooby Doo theme toys and memorabilia around the area as you can.
Drape helium-filled balloons with a white sheet. Tie the balloons at the "neck" to create a "head", and draw a face with black marker. There you have a very spooky ghost!
Cover you Scooby Doo birthday party table with a theme tablecloth. Place a blowout or Mylar balloon for a centerpiece. Tie helium balloons to the backs of the chairs. Hang a personalized "Happy Birthday" banner nearby.
Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities
*Scooby Doo Arrival: When the kids arrive, welcome them to the Scooby Doo birthday party, and give them a bone-shaped nametag that has guests' names followed by "-Doo." Apply some face paint to make their face look more like Scooby's. Give them dog ears and paws.
*Coloring Pages: Invite the kids to color Scooby Doo activity book pages with markers and crayons while they are waiting for others to arrive.
*Scooby Bracelets: You can get create-your-own-bracelet kit from a party store. Let the kids design their bracelets and decorate them with various materials!

Your Scooby Doo party favors can include such items as crayons, candy necklaces, Scooby-Doo rings, notepads, sticker sheets, lollipop holders, coffin whistles, etc.
Scooby Doo Birthday Party Games
*Shaggy & Scooby's Message Mix-Up: Have the kids sit in a circle. Tell the birthday child to think of a message that Scooby would want to send to his owner. Next, have the birthday child whisper that message to the person on his left, and the message travels from child to child around the circle, until it reaches the person on the birthday child's right.
That person tells the message out loud. Then the birthday child can tell the original message. Be prepared to be surprised at how the message has changed as it went around the circle!
*Pin the Dog-tag on Scooby: For this traditional activity, you'll need Scooby poster or picture, construction paper and blindfold.
Cut the construction paper into dog-tag shapes. Place double-sided tape on the tails so they stick. Mount the poster on the wall. Blindfold the kids one by one, spin them around, and get them to stick their tails on Scooby where they belong.
*Gelatin Eating Contest: Prepare gelatin mix (one for each guest) and put it into bowls. Cover the area with tablecloth to protect against mess, and line up the gelatin bowls along. Put the children's names on each bowl.
To start, each child places their hands on the ground next to their bowl. When the command is given ("It's time for some Scooby snacks!"), all contestants begin eating their gelatin, without moving their hands off the ground. The first one to clean his or her bowl wins!
*Dog-Gone Fun Relay: Before the Scooby Doo birthday party, draw Scooby's face on several balloons. At game time, have children stand in 2 single lines, facing the same direction. Place a balloon between the knees of the first child in each line.
When the race starts, the child turns to face the next person in line, the second child must grasp the balloon with his or her knees and turn to pass it on to the third person and so on. If the balloon falls to the ground, the team must start over. The first team to pass the balloon down the line wins!
*Scooby's Snacks Search: Hide Scooby-snacks (small candies, dog-bone shaped cookies, etc.) throughout the play area. To start the game, announce that the Scooby snacks went missing. Provide the guests with loot bags, and let them search for the hidden snacks.
*Feed Scooby: Draw a picture (or glue an image) of Scooby on the side of the cardboard box with his mouth wide open. Cut a hole for the mouth large for beanbags (or socks filled with dried beans) to be easily thrown into. Place the box several feet away from the children, and give each child a chance to toss beanbags into Scooby's mouth.
*Scooby Says: At Scooby Doo birthday party, "Simon Says" becomes "Scooby Says." The commands can include: Growl, Wag your Tail, Sit, Lie down, Roll over, Jump, Stay, etc.
*Scary Scooby Surprise: Choose one player to be Scooby Doo, and blindfold him or her. As Scooby walks blindly around, the rest of the children circle around Scooby (while staying in a designated play area). When Scooby touches someone, that child must howl and moan like a ghost until Scooby can guess who he or she is. If Scooby can identify the person, the two children trade places. If not, the game continues.
*Disappearing Cake Mystery: Before the Scooby Doo birthday party, create a set of clues that will lead party guests to hidden party favors, and finally to a hidden cake. The clues can be: "Go to the place where you would dine, look under the placemats for another sign!" (birthday table), "Where is it cool all day and night long?" (refrigerator), etc.
Have everyone sit down at the table ready for the birthday cake. Then enter the room looking surprised and announce that the birthday cake is missing, and all that was left in its place was an envelope! Open the envelope to reveal the first clue. The clues should lead everyone to the location of the cake. Once the cake is found, it's time for dessert!
*Watch a Show: At the end of the party, invite the kids to watch Scooby Doo movie or episode. Have them unwind with this relaxing activity!
