Invitations
You can make your Sesame Street birthday invitations using coloring pages. Purchase some theme coloring books from a kids' store (or print them online). Separate pages, and scan your favorite coloring page onto your computer.
Then print enough copies of it, and fold the page in half forming a card. That way you have the black-and-white image on the outer part of the card. Write "____'s (first name) Special Birthday" on the front. Next, provide party details inside including the fact that the kids can color the invitation any way they want.
For a different idea, you can create an image of the birthday child surrounded by Sesame Street characters using PhotoShop. Then paste that image on the front of the invitation cards. If you feel intimidated by the idea of doing this on your own, then use services of a local print shop. They will provide all the expertise in the world to solve your challenge.
Decorations Have some fun with Sesame Street party decorations. Place a theme poster on the fence or front door to greet your young guests. Hang colorful balloons in bunches all around the yard. Put up a banner that says "123 Sesame Street".
Spread out Sesame street theme toys around the party room inside the house. Hang paper streamers from the ceiling. Have Oscar's garbage can, Cookie Monster's cookie table, and other related things named after children's favorite characters.
Set the table using Sesame Street products (see a link to Party Supplies above). Put a Big Bird Mylar balloon in the middle of the table for a centerpiece.
Play Sesame Street music in the background!
Favors For Sesame Street party favors, hand out theme toys, blow outs, coloring and activity books, stickers, sing-along CDs, removable tattoos, cone hats, and other items.
Sesame Street Birthday Party Games *Cookie Jar Guessing Game: Fill a glass jar with cookies before the party. As little guests arrive, ask them to guess (with the help of their parents) how many cookies are in the jar. Whoever guesses the closest to the actual amount wins the jar full of cookies! *Oscar's Garbage Can: Before the guests arrive, decorate the garbage can to your best ability. Print and color Oscar coloring pages from Sesame Street website. Tape the colored pages to the garbage can. Crumple old newspapers in balls and get the kids to toss them inside the can from various distances.*Sesame Street Music Fun: Have the kids sit in a circle. Give them a theme toy (Elmo, Big Bird, etc.) to pass around as the music is playing (have an adult be the "DJ"). When the music stops, the person holding the toy goes out of the circle and receives a prize. *Tape the Cookie on Cookie Monster: Play a Sesame Street theme version of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" game.
*Pinata Activity: Pinata makes a great party game for young children. Create or purchase your own Sesame Street pinata. Before the party, fill it up with candy and other goodies. At game time, blindfold the kids and let them take turns breaking the pinata. *Story Time: At the end of the party, read one of Sesame Street stories. Kids can act out the story pretending to be the characters from the book.
Food and Drink Sesame Street Birthday Cake: *Sesame Street Cupcakes: Bake cupcakes out of regular cupcake mix according to package directions. Frost and decorate them to match your partyware. For extra fun, use decorator gel to draw Sesame Street character faces on the cupcakes.
