Space Cake

This cake will require 2 batches.

You'll need:
For the Sky - 9 X 13 pan.
For the Earth - Betty Crocker round cake pan (2 halves stuck together with icing).
For the Moon - 1/2 Betty Crocker round cake pan.

I used Wilton food coloring and just mixed with icing until I created the desired colors. I also used silver dust (made by Wilton) to sprinkle on the moon. The stars in the sky are silver cake beads.

I made a flag and put it on the moon. I found a space ship at a local toy store and glued a toothpick, stuck it in the cake as though it was flying back to the moon.

Chocolate cake recipe:
2 cups of sugar
1 3/4 cups of flour
3/4 cup of cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup strong coffee
1/2 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla

Beat on low until smooth. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes.
