Invitations
You can create teddy bear birthday invitations in a "theme" shape. Make cards by folding yellow construction paper.
Next, draw a honey pot on a piece of sturdy paper. (It should roughly fit the width and length of the cards.) Then cut it out with scissors. This will be a template for your invitations.
Place it on the card next to the fold, and trace the outline with a pencil. Then cut out the honey pot shape without "touching" the fold. Write "Honey" in the middle of the front page with a black marker. Write your party specifics inside.
For a different idea, simply take a picture of your child with his or her favorite teddy bear toy. Paste that picture on the front of the invites! Then decorate the cards with stickers and stamps!
Be sure to ask the kids to bring their teddy bears to the party.
Decorations When choosing party decorations, remember to stick with the theme. Play fun children's music in the background. Put up a sign outside that reads "Welcome to (your child's name) Teddy Bear Party!"
Hang balloons and paper streamers in bunches inside the party area. Spread out plush toys. It would be great if you could find posters of real baby bear cubs, and hang them on the wall.
Cover your table with a brown tablecloth. You can print and laminate pictures of bears for placemats. Put a stuffed teddy bear in the middle of the table for a centerpiece. Hang a personalized "Happy Birthday" sign near the table area.
Favors Have bags filled with stickers, coloring books, crayons, bear badges, gummy bears, beanbags, blowouts, and so on. For extra fun, offer toy honey pots filled with favors.
Teddy Bear Party Games *Color the Bear: Spread out teddy bear theme coloring pages on the floor along with crayons. Invite your guests to color the pages while they're waiting for everyone to show up. *Do the Lim-Bo-Bear: It will be fun for the kids to participate in this classic party activity.
Play upbeat music. Ask an adult to hold the limbo stick, as the children go under it one by one. Lower the stick each time. (Since you're dealing with young kids, you can allow those who can't go under the stick to go over it when it gets lowered. That way you can keep everyone in the game.)
*Buzzy Bees: Allow the children to play a game of Tag in a spacious area. *Hidden Honey: Hide honey flavored candies around the room. At game time, invite the children to find the hidden goodies. Offer clues and a helpful hand for those who have a hard time finding candy. *Bear Parade: Get the children to line up. Give them various musical instruments (or anything that makes noise) -- bells, maracas, tambourines. Put on some fun music so the kids can play along. Get them to go around bouncing, dancing, and performing their tunes. *Teddy Bear Tea Party: You can have extra place settings for the toys. Set up a small table and place kids' chairs around it. Provide toy cups and tea accessories. Allow the kids to feed and give tea to their little friends. *Story Time: At the end of the party, you can read a story (e.g., Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) to allow the little ones to unwind.
Food and Drink Teddy Bear Party Cake: *Teddy Bear Cake: Bake a round cake and two cupcakes. Arrange the cakes so the round cake forms a "face" and the cupcakes -- "ears."
Cover the "bear" with chocolate frosting. Then decorate with black candies for eyes, maraschino cherry for a nose, black licorice for a mouth, etc. Teddy Bear Party Food Ideas: *Bear Pizza *Fruit Kabobs *Honey Buns *Gummy Bears *Honey-Flavored Candy *Ice Cream
