Tinkerbell Birthday Party Ideas

Tinkerbell birthday party doesn't have to be for girls only.

Invite boys to be pirates during your special event!

Resources:

  • Party Supplies
  • Free Printable Invitations

  • Invitations

For the girls, print your Tinkerbell party invitations on sheets of vellum paper. Then attach each invitation to a cardstock with a ribbon.

Tinkerbell The invitations can say "Fairies, fairies, did you hear? (Your child's name) Tinkerbell birthday party is coming near." Include date, time, and address. You can end the invitations with "Wear your fairy best and we'll see you fairy soon."

For the boys, you can print invitations on resume paper and burn the edges to make it look like an old treasure map. Address boys as pirates, and ask all the kids to dress up appropriately!

As a variation, you can put an image of Tinkerbell on the front of the invitation cards. Place the cards in sheer vellum envelopes for mailing.

Your alternate invitation wording can say "Think of the happiest things, it's the same as having wings! You are invited to Tinkerbell birthday party. The magic starts at (time) on (date), gateway to Neverland (address). You provide the faith and trust, we'll provide the pixie dust!"

    Decorations

For the outside Tinkerbell party decorations, start with a big sign stretched on the fence or between trees. It can say "Gateway to Neverland, Second Star to the Right!", and hang a large star over the sign.

Create Mermaid Lagoon on one side of the yard. There you can have long crepe paper streamers in shades of blue and lots of tropical-fish cutouts (hanging from trees). Have balloons "floating around" in shades of pale blue and clear to simulate water bubbles. Place a kiddie pool filled with ice as a beverage cooler.

Create Pirate's Cove on the other side of the yard. (Do this only if you have boys attending the party.) Make a cave out of brown packing paper and black streamers that the kids could run through. Mount a poster of Peter Pan fighting Hook.

Cut a refrigerator box into the shape of a ship, and put it around the pole or support beam. Then tie a sail and pirate flag to the pole with a rope. Put up a tent and name it "Lost Boys Hideout."

You can make each room of your house a different part of Neverland. For example the entry can be Hangman's Tree: hang a rope noose from a coat stand with some dangling skeletons. The Living room is Skull Rock with toy pirates and boats.

The dining room becomes an Indian Camp complete with pictures/drawings of teepees and Indians taped to the wall. Make stairs your Crocodile Creek - with toy crocodiles peeking up from between the steps and railings.

Tape 'glow-in-the-dark' stars onto the ceiling. Hang ribbon halos and wands all over the Tinkerbell birthday party area to give it a festive air. Scatter plastic butterflies around the room. Mount Tinkerbell posters on the walls.

Cover your Tinkerbell birthday party table with a theme cloth. Sprinkle shiny confetti on the table for "pixie dust." Tie colorful balloons to chairs. Hang a personalized "Happy Birthday" banner nearby.

    Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities

As your Tinkerbell birthday party guests arrive, provide the girls with fairy wings and wand, and the boys - with pirate bandanas and eye patches.

*Guess How Many: Fill a jar with jellybeans, and have the kids guess how many candies are in the jar. Give the jellybeans to a child who can guess the closest to the amount, and give the leftovers to other players.

*Candy Necklaces: Fill several bowls with doughnut-shaped candy and cereal. Provide the Tinkerbell birthday party guests with necklace strings and let them create their own edible necklaces.

*Tinker Bell Door Hanger Activity: You can get a Door Hanger Activity kit from a party store. Have the kids decorate their door hangers with coloring pens.

    Favors

For your Tinkerbell party favors, hand out such items as wands, feather rings, Tinkerbell blowouts, sticker sheets, pirate eye patches, golden coins, and so on.

    Tinkerbell Birthday Party Games

*Sifting for Gems: Before the Tinkerbell birthday party, fill a shoebox with sand or white cornmeal, and hide plastic rhinestones in the box. At game time, pass the shoebox around so each child gets a couple of gems by sticking a hand in the sand and letting it sift through her fingers to reveal a rhinestone.

*I believe in Fairies: Pick one person to be Tinker Bell, and give her a magic wand. The rest of the kids should run off. When Tinker Bell tags players with a wand, they must go to a designated area, clap their hands continuously and say "I believe in fairies" 10 times before they're free again.

The round stops at the end of a prearranged time limit. Then another child gets to be Tink. Give prizes to Tinker Bell who catches the most players.

*Pass the Fairy Wand: Tell the children to sit in a circle. Explain that when the music starts they must pass the wand as quickly as possible. When the music stops, the child holding the wand is out of the game. Let that child keep the wand. Hand out another wand and turn the music back on to continue the game.

The game ends when everyone is out, and everyone has a wand. (Hint: have a few crowns for boys if they don't want the wands.)

*Fairy Detective: For this Tinkerbell birthday party game, you'll need pillows and a small ball or marble.

Children take turns sitting on four pillows arranged in a row on the floor. While sitting on the pillows, each player must guess which one the pea (a small ball) is under. Move the ball after each turn while the contestant is out of the room, or looking away.

*Lilly Pad Moat Crossing: Cut out four large lily pads from green cardboard (about 12"x15").

Divide the Tinkerbell birthday party guests into two equal lines and give the first person in each line two lily pads. On the command "Go," the players place one lily pad on the ground, and step on it. Then they place another one and step on it, and so forth. The lily pads become the only thing they can step on as they travel across the "moat" - from the front of the line, around chair and back to the line again.

When they cross the moat they hand the two lily pads to the next player in line. The team to make it all the way across the moat first is the winner.

*Pixie Magic: Have Tinkerbell birthday party guests sit in a circle. Pull the birthday child aside and whisper into her ear the secret of the trick, "Select the penny that is warm." Bring the birthday child back into the circle. Show all the kids five pennies, which you place in a hat.

Have the birthday child select a penny and look at the date on the penny. Get her to pass the selected penny around the circle so every guest has a chance to look at the date, and, most importantly touch the penny. Have the last player toss the penny back into the hat.

Shake up the pennies in the hat. Then have the birthday child select the correct penny from the hat without looking. (She will select the warm penny, because copper absorbs heat, and the penny handled will now be warm.) Repeat the magic with other players, gently whispering the secret to each child one at a time.

*Tinker Bell Chase: For this Tinkerbell birthday party activity, you'll need a laser pointer or sharp focus flashlight.

Move the laser pointer around the party area flying it over chairs, couches, floors and ceilings. Have the guests' race around trying to catch the red "fairy dot."

*Tinker Bell's Secret: Help the Tinker Bell pass the secret message to Peter Pan. Have the kids sit in a circle. The birthday child is Tinker Bell and must whisper a message to the child sitting to her right.

The message must be whispered from guest to guest around the circle until the guest sitting to the left of Tinker Bell calls the message out loud. Then Tinker Bell says the original message. Watch the kids giggle as they compare the two messages.

*Ha, Ha, Ha!: The kids sit or stand in a circle. One player begins by saying "Ha," as solemnly as possible. The next player in the circle says, "Ha Ha," and the player after that, "Ha Ha Ha." Play continues with each player adding a "Ha" during his or her turn. The players must all keep a straight face throughout the game.

Any player who smiles or giggles must leave the circle; however, he or she can now move around the circle trying to make the other kids laugh. That child can make funny faces or noises, but cannot touch the other players. The game ends when only one player remains in the circle by having kept a straight face throughout all the laughter.

*Lost Boys' Treasure Hunt: For this Tinkerbell birthday party activity, you'll need construction paper or index cards, scissors, and three different kinds of treasures for hiding.

Choose a theme for the hunt. For example, "Birthday Food" where all the treasures lead to a meal. Another popular theme is "Tea Time" where treasures include cups, herbal tea bags and honey or cinnamon sticks.

Acquire treasures suitable for the theme and hide them in three different rooms or parts of your yard. Draw and cut out stars from construction paper, and place them near the treasures (or use index cards).

Write clues on stars. Use clues that would be easy for children to solve, such as "I'm cold on the inside, and I run all day and all night long." (Answer: refrigerator). Other clues may include the following: "The place where the birthday child watches Peter Pan and Tinker Bell?" (Answer: TV room), "The place where boys and girls love to play with bubbles?" (Answer: bathroom), or "The place where sometimes snoring can be heard?" (Answer: bedroom).

    Food and Drink

    Tinkerbell Birthday Cakes:

*Lagoon Cake: For this Tinkerbell party cake, you'll need 1 baked rectangular cake, 1 cupcake, 3 cups of blue frosting, 1 cup of green frosting, and Tinkerbell cake topper.

Frost the cake blue and cupcake - green. Place Tinkerbell cake topper perched on top of "cupcake grassy rock" positioned atop of lagoon cake.

*Tinkerbell Cake: Bake a heart-shaped or a round cake. Frost the cake. Use pink and purple colors for drop flowers and roses. Place a Tinkerbell cake topper in the center of the cake.

    Tinkerbell Birthday Party Food Ideas:

*Shooting Star Sandwiches: Make your child's favorite sandwiches and cut them into star shapes using star cookie cutters. You can also serve triangle-shaped sandwiches laid out in a star arrangement. To do this, put sandwiches in a circle with points facing towards the edge of the tray.

*Neverland Nibbles: For this Tinkerbell birthday party recipe, you'll need pound cake (homemade or store bought), strawberry jam, 2 cups of powdered sugar, red food coloring, candy frosting flowers, and edible glitter.

Slice the pound cake into tiny squares and spread with strawberry jam. Make pink icing by mixing powdered sugar with 6 tbsp of water and a few drops of food coloring. Drizzle icing (mixed with edible glitter) over cake squares and top with candy frosting flowers.

As a variation, you can substitute the pound cake with a simple sheet cake, or serve miniature cupcakes.

*Fairy Wands: Cover pretzel rods in chocolate, roll in multi-colored sprinkles, and wrap in cellophane.

*Rice Krispies®: Prepare Rice Krispies treats in a shape of a heart or a star, and then cover them with some sprinkles.

*Pixie Pops: To make these Tinkerbell birthday party treats, you'll need about 24 oz of pineapple (grape or apple) juice, 1 banana (sliced into 8 thick pieces), 8 strawberries (if not in season, try another fruit), 8 paper cups, 8 Popsicle® sticks, and foil (cut into small squares to cover tops of cups).

Fill 8 paper cups about 1/2 to 3/4 with juice. Drop a banana slice into each cup, push a strawberry onto a Popsicle stick (leaving enough room at the end of the stick to fit banana slice). Then insert Popsicle stick into banana so that the stick stands up. Make a slit through the center of each foil square.

Cover the cups with foil, allowing sticks to pop through slit. Place cups in a baking pan (to create a level surface and catch spills), and put in freezer for 5 hours or until solid. Before serving, peel away the paper cups and foil.

*Pink Cream Cheese Cracker Sandwiches: Spread strawberry cream cheese between 2 non-salty crackers. Pile the cream cheese cracker sandwiches on a pretty plate.

*Blue Stars: Make blue gelatin stars following directions on gelatin package and using star-shaped cookie cutter.

    *Macaroni & Cheese
    *Fruit Salad
    *Popcorn Chicken
    *Miniature Marshmallows
    *Chocolate Doughnuts

    Tinkerbell Birthday Party Drink Ideas:

*Pixie Punch: Fill a large punch bowl with ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. At serving time, add raspberry sherbet and watch it fizz. Serve in fancy glasses and garnish each rim with a fresh flower or strawberry.

*Peppermint Pan Soda: To make the following Tinkerbell birthday party drink, you'll need 1 cup milk (per guest), 1 cup sparkling water (per guest), and 2 scoops of peppermint ice cream (per guest).

Mix milk, water, and ice cream together in a blender and serve. (Divide into portions when blending to avoid overflow.)

*Popping Drinks: Add Pop Rocks® candy into the glasses with drinks for a great popping effect!

    *Pink Lemonade
