Invitations
You can make Transformers birthday party invitations in Autobot logo shape. To do this, download and print an image of Autobot logo off the internet. Outline the image on cardboard. Once you cut out the logo shape out of cardboard, it becomes your template. Draw its outlines on red card stock paper. Cut the shapes out, and then use a ruler to draw lines on the front using the original Autobot logo image as a guide.
Then, write your party information in black ink on the back side. (Use Transformers type font style.) You can start with "Fellow Autobot: Join Me, (child's name), and our leader Optimus Prime in Epic battle against vicious Decepticons on the battle grounds at (Address) at (Time)." Then continue with the rest of party information. As a variation, glue images of Transformers on the front of regular white invitation cards. After you finish writing party details, put the invites inside envelopes along with Transformer stickers.
Decorations
For Transformers birthday party decorations, you can purchase or create character standees to greet the guests near the front entrance. Play Transformers theme music.
Get several glow-in-the-dark lanterns or necklaces from a dollar store. Place them in darker areas around the house. Enlarge Autobot and Decepticon logos, and mount them high off the ground for everyone to see. Create a banner that says "More Then Meets the Eye."
Hang theme posters on the wall. Spread out transformer toys on the floor. Hang balloons and streamers in red, yellow, and blue colors.
Cover the table with a bright colored cloth (yellow is best). Laminate pictures of Autobots and Decepticons, and use them for placemats at each setting. Create a "Happy Birthday" banner using transformers style font.
Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities
*Coloring pages: Print theme coloring pages off the internet. Spread the pages out on the floor, and invite the children to color them for an ice-breaker activity. This works well with a younger group of kids. *Transformers Mural: For a slightly older group of children, tape butcher paper on the wall. And get them to draw their favorite Autobot or Decepticon characters using various paint colors.
*Jigsaw Puzzle: As a variation, get the kids to put together a jigsaw puzzle when they arrive.
Favors
For Transformers birthday party favors, have such items as glow necklaces, Pop Rocks candy, toy race cars, Transformer sticker sheets, removable tattoos, paper masks, keychains and posters.
Transformers Party Games
For your information: Several of the games below involve some sort of a contest between "good" and "evil." Most boys over the age of 7 will love the idea of a battle. On the other hand, some younger kids wouldn't want to be the "bad guys." In that case, adjust the activities accordingly.
*Find the Allspark: Before the party, hide a small grey cube (the Allspark -- talisman that grants unlimited power to whoever possess it) in you backyard. (You can decorate it by drawing lines to give it a more "real" look.)
At activity time, split the kids into 2 teams -- Autobots and Decepticons, and get them to find it. If the teams can't find the item in 10-15 minutes, then give them clues to help their search.
*Optimus Prime Says: Play a theme version of Simon Says game. Have an adult lead the game and young "Transformers" follow the commands of the leader.
*Decepticon Elimination Bowling: Glue pictures of Decepticons on empty plastic bottles. At game time, arrange them in a pyramid shape, and get the guests to knock them down like bowling pins with a rubber ball for points.
*Autobots Vs Decepticons: You need some spacious area for this game. Divide the kids into 2 new teams: Decepticons and Autobots. On the command "Go" get the Decepticons to chase and try to catch Autobots.
When the Autobots get caught, they go to a designated area called "oblivion." There they must stay still with their legs wide apart. They can be freed if one of their Autobot friends crawls between their legs. Keep playing the game until all Autobots are out, or it's time for the next activity.
*Build a Robot: Provide the kids with boxes of various sizes, plumbing parts, old computer chips, cartridges, CDs, and other items. Give them some time so they can build a robot using the materials provided.
*Guess Who?: Print pictures of various Transformers off the internet. You can have such characters as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Megatron, Starscream, Barricade, etc.
At activity time, tape the pictures of Transformers on kids' backs without them looking. Get the children to find who they're by asking everyone else questions that can be answered "yes" or "no."
Tip: some kids might not be familiar with Transformers characters. So to make it fair, quickly review the major ones before the game.
*Energon Cube Race: Energon is the primary power source of the Transformers.
For this activity, split the kids into two teams. Organize a relay race where the players from each team have to carry a sugar cube on a spoon. Then they pass the spoon with the cube to the next person in line. The team to cross the finish line first, wins.
*Save Bumblebee: In the Transformers movie, Sector 7 agents strangle and take Bumblebee into custody. Have an activity where your party guests can take part in rescuing the transformer robot.
You'll need about seven or eight 20 foot pieces of yarn, a toy transformer, and index cards.
Before the party, write "Sorry, try again" on index cards. Make small holes in cards, and tie a piece of yarn to each. Also, attach a yarn piece to the transformer toy. Hide the cards and the toy in cupboards, drawers, under furniture, and so on.
Then slowly stretch pieces of yarn across the room, wrapping around furniture, and intertwining the pieces together. At game time, get the kids to work as a group to untangle the yarn pieces trying to find the transformer toy. If they find an index card, they have to start over.
*Bomb Barricade: Here is a great activity for a summer party. Print and laminate a picture of Barricade (Decepticon transformer). Tape it to the fence or wall outside. Make water balloons for guests (4 per each child). Get them to throw "bombs" at Barricade from a distance.
Food and Drink
Transformers Birthday Cake:
*Transformers Cake: Bake a regular sheet cake. Print Autobot logo image off the internet. Lay the picture on top of the cake, and carve the shape out. Then frost the cake with white frosting. Then color the rest in red using the picture as a guide.
As a variation, you can bake a rectangular cake, and place Transformers cake toppers on it. (You can get them at most party outlets). Transformers Birthday Party Food Ideas:
*Autobot Pizza Faces: Cut English muffins in half, and top with pizza (or marinara) sauce and shredded mozzarella (or cheddar) cheese. Let children decorate their own muffin halves using pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, olives to make funny robot faces. Bake muffins on a cookie sheet until the cheese melts (roughly 5-10 minutes at 375°).
*Starscream Banana Split: serve regular banana split ice cream.
*Slugslinger Burgers *Frenzy Fries *Hot Rod Hotdogs *Sparkabots Spaghetti *Scorponok Popcorn *Energon Cookies Transformers Birthday Party Drink Ideas:
