  • Veggie Tales Party Invitations

You have a few options for creating fun Veggie Tales invitations.

First, you can print theme coloring pages off the Big Idea website. Fold them and write "Guess what?! You're invited to (child's name) Veggie Tales Birthday Party!" on the front. Write party information inside the cards. Get your child to color the invites, or allow the guests to do that when they receive their invitations.

Second, you can fold red card stock paper in half. Create tomato-shaped invitations by cutting out corners, but leaving the fold intact. Use the picture of Bob the Tomato to make the front of the invites to look like Bob. Draw his eyes, nose and mouth -- and you're set!

Lastly, you can order theme invitations from a party store. This method could save you some time, but lose the "personal touch."

    Party Decorations

Green, red, and yellow are perfect colors for Veggie Tales theme party. Use balloons and paper streamers in bunches. Place a large theme poster on the fence to mark the party spot.

Stick pinwheels in the ground in the backyard. Hang plastic vegetables from the trees near the entrance. Mount a sign that says "Bob & Larry Welcome You!"

Tape some pictures of Veggie Tale characters on the wall. Spread out plastic fruits and vegetables around the scene. Paint "Happy Birthday" banner, and add pictures of Bob and Larry on opposite ends.

Cover party table with a green cloth. Print out and laminate Veggie Tales pictures, and have them for place mats at each setting. Put a large bowl filled with vegetables in the middle of the table for a centerpiece.

    Veggie Tales Party Favors

Fill favor bags with coloring books, Veggie Tales miniature toys, stickers, blow outs, crayons, rings, bracelets, and so on.

    Party Games

*Color the Veggies: As the kids and their parents arrive, invite them to a designated area where you can scatter around Veggie Tales coloring pages. Provide crayons and pencils, and get the children to color their favorite characters.

*Knot Easy: Before the party, cut pieces of yarn roughly in 20-foot lengths. Attach a small toy or sticker to each piece of yarn.

Hide the toys all around: in drawers, cupboard, under the furniture, etc. Then create a massive web by tangling the pieces together. Write guest's initials on every yarn piece.

At party time, get the kids to find the toys by following their yarn pieces and untangling them. Young kids will be curious to see what's at the end, but they will need help! So have adult assistants for this activity.

*Bob, Bob, Larry: Play a theme version of "Duck, Duck, Goose" game.

Have the kids sit in a circle. Get the birthday child to start the game by going around the circle on the outside, tagging others lightly on the shoulders and saying "Bob." As the child says "Larry", the person being tapped must get up quickly and chase the birthday child around the circle before he or she sits down in an empty spot.

Continue the game switching players, so everyone can tag and chase.

*Pin the Nose on Bob: Before the party, paint a large tomato and tape the drawing on the wall. Use picture of Bob the Tomato to draw eyes, nose and other facial features. Cut nose shapes out of card stock -- so you have enough for every child. Put a double-sided tape on each nose shape.

At game time, blindfold the kids one by one, spin them around, and get them to pin their nose on Bob where it belongs.

*Hot Potato: Get the kids to pass a potato while you play music in the background. Stop the music randomly, and whoever has the potato at that time goes out of the game and receives a prize!

*Veggie Tales Limbo: Play Veggie Tales theme music and get the kids to dance. Hold limbo stick with another adult, and invite the children to go under it, as you lower the stick each round.

*Watch the Show: Plug in one of the Veggie Tales episodes in your DVD player, and invite the kids to watch the show together to relax after fun activities.
