Invitations
Make winter party theme invitations in snowflake shapes. Cut them out of construction paper. Write "It's a Winter Birthday Party!" on one side. Then include all your party details on the other side.
Or, create a winter scene on invitation cards: either by cutting out or drawing images of snowmen, ice skaters, and snowflakes. Put them in envelopes with shiny silver or white confetti.
Decorations
Decorate your winter party scene with white, blue and silver balloons and streamers. String clear Xmas lights on the walls. Put up winter wonderland theme posters or scene setters.
Cut snowflakes out of construction paper, and hang them on fishing lines from the ceiling. Hang decorative ribbons on the walls. Tie several pretty bows.
Cover the party table with blue tablecloth. Sprinkle some sparkling confetti on top of the cloth.
Favors
Here are some ideas for winter party favors: snow glitter globes, winter theme CDS, ornaments, garlands, winter theme posters, and so on.
Winter Party Games
*Baby, Do You Love Me?: Guests sit in a circle except for one person who's looking for love. She comes to players in the circle, and asks - one at a time - "Baby, do you love me?" The person must answer "Baby, I love you but I just can't smile."
The player who cracks a smile first trades places with the one asking questions.
*Winter Theme Relays: Before the party, prepare two of each: a winter jacket, scarf, snow boots, heavy pants, etc.
Divide the group into 2 teams and have a relay race. The participants must put on all winter outfits, run to the other side of the area, around a cone (or chair) and back. Then they take off the clothes they've put on, and tag the next player on their team who continues in the same fashion.
The team that finishes the race first, wins.
*Winter Scavenger Hunt: Divide the group into 2 teams. Give each team a stack of magazines, two pairs of scissors, and a list of theme items. It may include: snowflakes, winter clothes, skates, hockey sticks, reindeer, penguins, igloos, and so on.
Set a timer to 10-15 minutes, and invite the guests to find and cut as many winter items out of the magazines as they can find.
*Charades: Add this classic game to a list of your party activities. It's always a lot of fun!
*Dance Time: Play party music and invite your guests to dance.
*Snow Angels: If there is snow outside, have the group go out and play: do snow angels or throw snowballs around.
*Movie: At the end of the party, have the guests watch a winter theme movie such as The Santa Clause, Elf, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, etc.
